James Wayne Whitten, 90, of Rock Island, IL formerly of Sandwich, IL passed away Friday August 9, 2024 at his home in Rock Island, IL, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 22, 1933 in Princeton, IN the son of David Wayne and Hazel Marguerite (Holtsclaw) Whitten. James married Patricia Haag on June 30, 1962 in Sandwich, IL. Jim enjoyed camping with his family every year. In retirement, Jim and Pat would travel extensively doing genealogy research. For several years, they would snowbird in Rockport, Texas. He loved to listen and sing along to old country and western music and sang with the Fair Town Harmonizers barber shop chorus. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church and served on the church council.
