Sandra L. Protano Born: July 13, 1960 Died: July 2, 2024 Sandra L. Protano, 63, of DeKalb passed away suddenly on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. She was born July 13, 1960, in Sycamore and was the daughter of Ronald G. and Christine (Spartz) Burtzos. Sandra graduated from Malta High School in 1978. She married David A. Protano on July 18, 1981, in Las Vegas, NV. Sandra worked for NIU in the building services department as a building foreman for 20 plus years retiring in 2016. She also worked in housekeeping at Oakcrest up until her passing. Sandra loved cooking, shopping and spending time with her family especially with her grandchildren. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, David of DeKalb; daughter, Lyndsy (Adam) MacNeille of DeKalb; sister, Suzanne (David) Haltom of Katy, TX; four grandchildren, Dominick Allen, Brayden MacNeille, and Jaxson MacNeille all of DeKalb, and Jayden MacNeille of Alabama
