Harry Newberry, 74, Kirkland, Ill., passed away June 28, 2024, at home surrounded by his family with the support of hospice care and family care. Harry was born March 12, 1950, in New Haven, West Virginia, to Ada Lieving and Walter Newberry. Harry started a career in towing over 40-plus years ago. He owned his own tow business, Countryside Towing, for 30-plus years. Harry was in the Kirkland Fire Department from 1983 until 2008. During his career in the Kirkland Fire Department he served as an EMT for 23 years. He also served as the Assistant Fire Chief from 1995-2002. He then proceeded on as the Fire Chief from 2002-2004. In Harry's free time he worked on cars for people. In 1978, Harry married his beloved wife, Kay Balch, in a beautiful ceremony at the Kirkland First Lutheran Church.
