John Roger Gilmore Born: June 26, 1945 in DeKalb County, IL Died: June 18, 2024 in Gravois Mills, MO John Roger Gilmore, age 78 of Gravois Mills, Missouri, passed away at home June 18, 2024, following his battle with kidney disease. John was born June 26, 1945, in DeKalb, Illinois to Marjorie and Thomas Gilmore. He graduated from DeKalb High School and later became an apprentice Ironworker in 1966. John married Diane Elaine Nelson on August 12, 1967. They lived in DeKalb until 2005, when they built their "dream" home in Missouri. His love of cars began before he was able to drive and continued through the years. He owned Barb City Automotive and sponsored stock cars. Many weekends were spent at the races! This led to rebuilding street rods and going to car shows. John's interests also included 40 years of fishing trips and playing cards with friends in Ontario, Canada. He was a member of the Elks and volunteered for many activities, such as Shoot Out volunteer, Hoop Shoot coordinator
