Howard served in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. He owned and operated his own trucking business for many years. Howard married Margaret A. (Higgins) Marshall on December 27, 1995, in Sycamore, IL. Survivors include; his wife Margaret of Lee, mother; Patricia of Sycamore, daughters; Nicole Tischhauser of TN and Crystal (Nick) Foshe-Henson of IA. Step daughter; Michelle Marshall. Brothers; Donald (Tomasa) Foshe, William "Gunner" Foshe, and David McDowall and sisters; Linda (Guy) Somerville and Holly (Karl) Christensen.
