Thompson, 79, formerly of Shabbona and Rochelle, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home in Dixon surrounded by his family. He was born November 1, 1943, in DeKalb, the son of Emory and Elinor (Vandre) Thompson. He married Rita Merriman on March 14, 1964, in Shabbona. Tom graduated from Shabbona High School in 1961. He worked as a farmer and later drove a semi-truck for numerous local companies. He was an avid baseball fan. Tom loved fishing, riding his motorcycle, and taking long drives with Rita. He loved his family above all, especially spending time and playing cards with his grandkids. Tom is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rita, of Dixon; two children, Jeff Thompson of Rochelle and Julie (Scott) Lovett of Steward; two grandchildren, Nate and Emily Lovett; sister, Judy Jacobson of Norway, IL; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
